I chose to use a picture of a forest to introduce the standard about dinamic equilibria within populations, communities, and ecosystems. I can use this to talk about biodiversity of a community – the variety of different kinds of organisms that make it up – because the forest tree-tops, ground, and water all have a variety of different organisms that keep the ecosystem in equilibrium. From there I can go into how predation and symbiotic relationships effect communities. For instance, near extinction of one species can lead to an increase in the abundance of their prey, which can lead to an increase or decrease of another species (and so on). Species that live in the same community are all effected, even if they live in different environments (water, ground, tree tops, etc.)
