I had used Google Reader in the past. It helped me read as many websites at one time in one place. It created a convenient way to get the latest news and also follow blogs.
5 Professional Sites:
1). Chalk talk: A Kindergarten Blog- I like this blog because it shares other blogs and ideas from other blogs about lesson plans and classroom activities. I think that sometimes it is nice to see what other teachers are out there doing.
2) Hendron’s Digest- The writer of this blog is an obvious veteran of the teaching world and discusses issues that teachers face each day. I think that it is good to hear what older teachers are thinking because they have the experience. Hendron is also from the Richmond Area so that connects me more to his blog
3). Mrs. Kilburn’s Kiddos- Mrs. Kilburn is a kindergarten teacher who writes a blog about her day to day life in school. She shares her room ideas and lesson ideas on various subjects. I like how she shows pictures of her finished products. I like to see what something looks like before I try to do it.
4). Kindergarten Chronicles- This blog follows Mrs. Larramore and her students’ daily life in kindergarten. I like her blog because it is written for both a parent to read and also for fellow educators to be inspired by her ideas.
5) National Education Association- I started following this organization because my parents have both said that this is a valuable professional organization. The feed provides the latest articles from their publications, both online and their magazine. I think it is important to hear all of the major issues that are facing teachers especially with the economy being in its current state.
5 Personal Sites:
1) Alabama Crimson Tide Football: Bamaonline is a website that shares all of the latest recruiting and player news regarding Alabama football. I attended the University of Alabama and I like to keep up with all of the latest news regarding my team. Following the news is harder now that I live in Virginia so Google Reader has created a great way for me to keep up.
2) Celebrity Gossip Juicy Celebrity Rumors- I have to say that Perez Hilton is a guilty pleasure of mine. When I work a tedious office job, his bashing and mocking of celebrities got me through some terrible days. I know that keeping up with celebrities could overtake my life but Perez focuses on the best celebrity news.
3)RVANews- I live in Richmond, Virginia and I feel it is important to know what is happening in my city. This site follows not only the crime news but also local events and concerts that will be happening in the city.
4). “Stuff “My Dad Says- Although “stuff” is not the word the author uses, this twitter pages has gained so much popularity that it is going to be a sitcom on CBS this fall. I love the “stuff” that this guy’s dad says. The dad is crude and rude. I like that a guy is making millions on simply quoting horrible things that his dad says all day.
5) South Walton Scene- I enjoy reading this site because it is where I lived in Florida. It has the latest news on what is going on Florida’s Panhandle. I like this now because of the recent oil spill, the site is giving updates on the current contamination and oil ball sightings.
it was very interesting to read.
