I joined Classroom 2.0 when it was first introduced to us in our Technology class. I have posted my introduction on the site, as well as initiated conversations with others that are on there. I have not, however, received a response. In looking at the posts, the majority of them that are geared towards collaboration [...]

I chose to compare Second Life (2nd Life) and Elluminate. I have used 2nd Life for entertainment before. To be quite honest, I got lost, couldn’t make any friends, and felt very rejected! Upon revisiting the site after our class discussion, I do see that it could possibly be used for educational purposes (such as [...]

Felicidades! He is a beautiful baby! I’m glad everyone is doing well. Your poor wife; she’s STILL the only woman in the house. She may want to try JUST ONE MORE TIME for a girl, you know…haha

Michelle Gelrud wrote a new blog post: Audio Activity and Lesson Plan 1 year, 7 months ago
I have used this listening activity with my Spanish 1 students as a practice activity. They have been learning the vocabulary needed for talking on the phone and making, accepting, and declining invitations. This presents an opportunity for the students to listen for comprehension. After this activity, they are paired up and responsible for creating [...]

Greetings and Salutations! I have been going to this site since before I started teaching last summer. It has amazing resources for all teachers! Check it out. I have used it for lesson plan ideas, posted/commented on chatboards, gotten Harry Wong info, and more. I hope that it helps you, as well! http://www.teachers.net Michelle [...]

I am trying to get the audio file for “March of the Brooms” from Fantasia. Does anyone have the DVD or the audio file? I can’t find the REAL ONE that was in the movie!!!! If anyone has a copy, I would really appreciate it if I could borrow it! If you bring it Tuesday [...]

I agree that school has had many rules, and still does have some, that make it like a prison. I agree with much of what is quoted in the article that you linked. I do, however, feel strongly that structure is needed as part of the educational process. Even identifying the parts of a structured [...]

I read all 4 of the referenced articles for this assignment. I don’t know if it is because I grew up in a time where, in elementary school, the most we did on a ‘computer’ was use coding to create a graphic of a flower or something on the screen, or if it is just [...]

Michelle Gelrud commented on the blog post Incorporating video 1 year, 7 months ago
I think it sounds like a good plan, but my question is this: What is the PURPOSE of the activity? What do you hope that the students will gain (learned content) from this activity and watching the movie? Is it sharing? Teamwork? I’m just curious because we always have to state ‘students will be able [...]

Michelle Gelrud wrote a new blog post: Lesson Plan with Video Integration 1 year, 7 months ago
This lesson plan focuses upon the conjugation of -ar verbs in Spanish. Students have used various conjugated verbs in class so far, but this is the first formal lesson on how to conjugate these verbs. The majority of the class is teaching them the information. The lesson concludes with a video from YouTube entitled “Conjugation [...]

I use a lot of videos done by Spanish students for projects that are posted to the web by the teachers. One of them is ‘Que Hora Es’, which is a parody of a telenovela (Spanish soap opera) that was on the Bernie Mac comedy show. It’s hysterical! Telenovelas are very popular in Spanish culture. [...]

I have used TeacherTube several times this year; it is where I originally found the Conjugations song (in my embedded post, if you want to see it again). I think most Spanish teachers show this in class – it’s hysterical and a great way to warm things up the first or second month of school. [...]

I like the PPT, too! It really does provide a lot of information. I do, however, think that it is really long – I started to get kinda bored, even though I am interested in the topic.
I also agree with you about the need for font changes.
See you in class!

For my last assignment, I decided to create a website,
Bring it to class. We’ll see what we can do. It may be a protected file, it may be an actual streaming file. I can probably tell you what the issue is at least and possibly offer some solutions.
