Evolution Using Advertisement Media

I think my class might appreciate these two humorous, photoshopped images which advertise a dinosaur exhibit at the Calgary Zoo. I could use these images to discuss important aspects of human evolution. I would prompt students to identify and describe the facial features which were prominent in human ancestors. Also I would ask students to point out inaccuracies within the photo (note the plane flying in one of the photos). For example did dinosaurs and “cavemen” exist during the same time periods? What were the time periods that each existed based on the existing fossil record? The discussion of these photos could lead to a discussion or compare/contrast activity between humans and their ancestors noting structural homologies as a means for classification.
